Ballinger Family Dentistry, your dentist in Edmond has a slightly different opinion on this matter! We believe it is more beneficial to change the brush head or toothbrush out every 22 days. Now, before you grumble thinking we’re just trying to bamboozle you, our dentist in Edmond does have a very good reason and explanation.

You see, when those nylon bristles are first made in the factory they are cut to be perfectly the same height and the sharp edges of the nylon bristles are rounded into soft domes. This process makes the toothbrush bristles safe to use by making them less abrasive than when they are freshly cut. Thus, the softer bristles don’t harshly scrape away the tooth enamel as they brush.

Of course, if you are brushing as often as Ballinger Family Dentistry, your dentist in Edmond recommends (2-3 times per day) then the smoothness of your bristles will get worn away back to the original jaggedness. This makes it risky for brushing as enamel can be scrubbed off which can also cause further tooth damage.
